A direct follow-on to Stormfront, Hotel California continues the Mimetic Badarses storyline. It's the end of the first major arc, but by no means the end of the series. More to the point, the story served as an introduction to the major villain of the series, one who's existence had been confined to a few hints and a short appearance thus far.

This chapter was originally going to be the first half of a story; instead, due to a ballooning wordcount, it ended up being entirely standalone. This happens to me a lot.


Trivia:

The locations in this fic are shared with Take on Me, albiet with some sixty years difference. This is intentional, and not just because the two fics were developed at the same time.

Full rosters for Norris and Gilgamesh lances were never developed. In fact, only one member of each lance was even named. You can see why.

Pai Chu Wa was named by a friend of mine, taking names from a list. Yes, that is someone's real name. Yes, I feel sorry for them.

Working titles for the fic included Haven and Happiness Hotel. In the end, I named it after Hotel California simply because that damned song follows me wherever I go.

While not explicitly identified as such, Ogel's OmniMech is an Archangel.
